The MEGALITH
DIGITAL REPEATER -
up to 2 miles Line-of-Sight

With the Lithos Digital Radio Repeater, long-range robot operation does not mean a shortfall in performance. Our digital repeater system effectively doubles your robot’s range.

By itself, the Megalith Digital Radio will easily allow one-mile line-of-sight (LOS) operation and about 1000 feet in a crowded urban environment, where buildings, cars and concrete can dramatically limit signal power. Add a repeater and your operating range could be as long as a two miles or 2000 feet in a crowded urban environment.

Our Megalith Digital Radio Repeater(TM) is a stand-alone, self-powered digital radio that acts as a relay, instantly re-transmitting all signals from your control center to the robot. You get the same responsiveness and clarity you expect from a digital signal with far greater range than previously possible.

Featuring the same heavy duty construction--and lightweight pricing--as our Megalith Digital Controller, the Megalith Digital Radio Repeater is powered by a Lithium Ion Battery for 8 hour run time.

It’s easy to use. Typically, your robot can drop the repeater downrange then continue on to the scene. Or, the repeater can be walked or driven by ATV/utility vehicle to an optimal location. A Repeater Mobility Kit will be available in 2012 that will allow the repeater to be a self-contained mobile device, equiped with its own cameras.

Once the repeater is in place, the robot continues its mission with line-of-sight performance in non-line-of-sight environments.

CROWDED URBAN ENVIRONMENT

Illustrated below is a crowded urban environment that is typical of a commercial or city setting. Buildings, cars, trees, concrete and ambient radio interference can wreak havoc on radio control systems. The Megalith radio command center (red marker) easily controls a robot 1000 meters away (yellow marker). Add a Megalith Repeater (green marker) to the system and the range increases to 2000 meters (blue marker). Note the repeater is placed LOS to the command center and the robot. Different placement strategies will affect how the repeater functions with the environment. Experimentation in training is key to learning how best to use the system in any geographic area.

EXAMPLE PERFORMANCE (crowded urban environment) (1 watt system)

Maximum range of radio without repeater = 1000 feet.

Maximum range with repeater = 2000 feet.

LINE-OF-SIGHT/OPEN COUNTRY ENVIRONMENT

Illustrated below is a typical open country setting in which the Megalith console (red marker) is located so that there is a clear line of sight to the receiver (yellow marker). Line of sight trials have shown Megalith to have about one mile effective range. With the addition of the Megalith repeater (green marker), the range of the system increases to about two miles (blue marker). Different placement strategies will affect how the repeater functions with the environment. Experimentation in training is key to learning how best to use the system in any geographic area.

EXAMPLE PERFORMANCE (open country environment) (4 watt system)

Maximum range of radio without repeater = one mile.

Maximum range with repeater = two miles.
