Corporate
History
The
company was founded in 1993 as Apple Aid, Inc. The company
initially focused on the development of graphics and pre-press
software for the Macintosh. We created a number of plugins
for Adobe Photoshop and XTensions for Quark XPress, all designed
to speed the design process. Many of these products won "best
technology of the year" awards.
The
company won an STTR Phase I contract from the Office of Naval
Research in 1997 for research in autonomous manipulation and
autonomous navigation. This was followed up by a Phase II
award in 1998 and a Phase III award in 2003. The company developed
digital radio technology starting in 2001, evolving into our
current Monolith Digital Controller.
Our
company name was changed to Lithos Robotics Corporation in
January 2007 to better reflect our product mix and research
interests.
Lithos
is the greek word for "Rock" or "Stone".
Two of our core values are that our products are "rock
solid" in terms of reliability, and that they are easy
to use.
Location
Lithos Robotics is
located
in Amherst,
NY , a suburb of Buffalo,
and one of America's safest towns. Our four season climate
is perfect for robotics development and outdoor testing. Our
summers are the sunniest and driest of any northeast city
and moderate snowfall in winter provides for excellent skiing.
Amherst
is adjacent to East Amherst, ranked by Money Magazine as number
41 of the best 100 places to live in America.
